Saṃyukta Āgama: The Realms

451. The Realms

Thus have I heard. At one time, the Buddha was dwelling in Śrāvastī, in the Jeta Grove, in Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park.

At that time, the Bhagavān said to the bhikṣus, “I will now speak of the various realms. Listen carefully and consider well, because I will tell you about them. What are the various realms? Namely, the eye realm, form realm, and eye-consciousness realm; the ear realm, sound realm, and ear-consciousness realm; the nose realm, scent realm, and nose-consciousness realm; the tongue realm, flavor realm, and tongue-consciousness realm; the body realm, contact realm, and body-consciousness realm; the thought realm, dharma realm, and thought-consciousness realm. These are called the various realms.”

After the Buddha had spoken this sūtra, the bhikṣus heard what the Buddha had said, and joyfully practiced in accordance.
